Dietary preparation
For at least one week before arrival, eat simple, clean foods — fruits, vegetables, rice, grains, and soups. Avoid red meat, pork, spicy and heavily processed foods, and very heavy meals. This lighter diet prepares the body and supports the cleansing process.
What to avoid
- Alcohol — avoid for at least two weeks before arrival.
- Caffeine — reduce or eliminate to help calm the nervous system.
- Aged & fermented foods — cheese, cured meats, soy sauce — these interact with ayahuasca's MAO inhibitors.
- Sexual activity — traditionally avoided for about a week before and after, to conserve energy and focus.
Some medications and conditions are contraindicated with ayahuasca. Please read our health & safety guidelines carefully and share your full history with us — never stop prescribed medication without professional guidance.
Mental & emotional preparation
Spend time reflecting on your intentions before you come. You may want to meditate, journal, spend time in nature, or simply sit quietly with the question of why you feel called to ayahuasca. Clear intentions give direction — but stay open, because the medicine may bring attention to what needs to be seen rather than what you expect.
Please make sure you are in a reasonably stable emotional state. Choosing not to participate at a certain moment can also be an act of self-care.
What to pack
Light, comfortable clothing (preferably light colors), a rain jacket, sturdy sandals or boots for jungle walks, a flashlight or headlamp, a refillable water bottle, insect repellent, and a journal. Most importantly, bring an open mind and clear intentions.
